RECRUITMENT BROCHURE

You thrive in places where relationships matter, where collaboration, trust, and a handshake still mean something. You’re energized by the opportunity to shape a community’s future, not from behind a desk, but by working directly with local business owners, entrepreneurs, and civic leaders who care deeply about their hometown.

In Dalhart, you’ll find a professional environment that’s welcoming, supportive, and full of momentum. The EDC Board is hands-on, motivated, and aligned around a shared vision for healthy growth. You won’t be navigating bureaucracy, you’ll be part of a team that wants to make things happen and is ready to recruit the best partners to get it done.

If you're a connector, a builder, and someone who believes economic development is about people just as much as numbers, Dalhart will feel like home. You’ll bring your experience and insight to the table, and be welcomed as a leader, not just an administrator. This is your chance to do meaningful work in a place that will value you for who you are and what you bring to the community.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate for the Dalhart Economic Development Director is a strategic and relationship-centered professional who thrives in a collaborative, community-focused environment. This individual will be self-directed but team-oriented, someone who can move projects forward, build trust across stakeholders, and represent the city with professionalism and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, business recruitment, public administration, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience managing programs, developing strategy, and engaging with community stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, economic development, planning, or a related field
  • Certification as a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP), or similar credential
  • Experience working with a board or governing body in a public-sector setting
  • Background in rural or small-city economic development
  • Knowledge of Texas economic development tools, incentive programs, and legislative frameworks

Core Competencies & Attributes

  • Relationship Builder – Values collaboration, active listening, and trust-based partnerships
  • Strategic Thinker – Can evaluate the big picture while managing the details of individual projects
  • Initiative-Driven – Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through
  • Public-Facing Professional – Confident representing the city in business, media, and civic settings
  • Community-Minded – Appreciates the unique culture of Dalhart and leads with humility and purpose
  • Creative Problem Solver – Brings new ideas and adapts to changing business and community needs
