Under the general direction of the Environmental Program Manager I (Supervisory), the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) has oversight of the complex scientific, mapping, and data collection work performed in the Plant Data Analysis Services (PDAS) unit. This involves directing the technical and scientific staff responsible for performing data analytics and evaluation, Geographic Information System (GIS) functions, and development of digital program tools, while also overseeing the gathering and preparation of research information to present findings and provide recommendations to Division Management.

Monitor and provide input to staff on the development of procedures for the collection of qualitative and quantitative data for the timely monitoring, and analysis of information from database resources related to invasive species intercepted through the border stations or interior parcel facilities (county high risk pest exclusion), detected through trapping programs, nursery license and seed programs, and state and federal phytosanitary certification programs.

Provide technical expertise and recommendations to assist in the development, acquisition, compilation, and statistical analysis of pest trapping data, as well guide development of environmental data collection to track invasive species introduction and/or spread through the environment.

Act as lead in designing and coordinating the implementation of numerous Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI)-based data collection apps for PHPPS and other Divisions within CDFA.
