Job Description and Duties
The Victims' Services Unit (VSU) is looking for a Victim Advocate to contribute to the mission of the Community Awareness, Response, and Engagement Office in providing services and support to California crime victims. Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the Victim Advocate will perform varied technical and analytical assignments, as well as victims' services assignments. The Victim Advocate's focus is to provide victim-centered and trauma-informed services to California crime victims, which includes orientation to the criminal justice system, support, advocacy, and referrals to other government and non-government agencies.
Working Conditions
This position has been designated as eligible for telework and is currently a remote-centered position. The position may however require in-person attendance when requested. The selected candidate would report to Department of Justice office in Sacramento when required to attend mandated in-person meetings, trainings, etc. Expenses related to travel to the office for required events are the responsibility of the employee. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time.
Please note that all new to state employees will be given the minimum salary of the classification. For current state employees and/or those with reinstatement rights, your salary will be determined in accordance with the applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Excellent meeting facilitation skills, including the ability to effectively present information to a wide variety of audiences
Ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders
Experience in local district attorney's offices
Experience with non-profit agencies serving vulnerable, at-risk, underrepresented and/or victims of crime
Possess previous volunteer work with the above mentioned populations
Bilingual in Spanish language is preferred but not required
